Major Setback to RJD Supremo Lalu Yadav, His Bail Plea Rejected

In a major set back to former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and his supporters the Jharkhand High Court today rejected the bail petition of the leader dashing his hopes of reaching his home on the occasion of Makar-Sankranti or enjoying the festival with his famous ‘dahi-chura’

Lalu is presently in jail and is undergoing treatment at paying ward of RIMS here.

Earlier on January 4 after listening to the arguments of the counsels representing Mr Yadav and those of the CBI the court had kept its order reserved. Today, the court of justice Apresh Kumar Singh rejected the bail petition of Mr Yadav.

The lawyers of Mr Yadav had pointed that in the case other convicts had got bail from the court therefore the same should be applicable on him.
Moreover Mr Yadav himself had got bail in a previous cases which validated his chances of seeking the bail.

During the hearing, ASG Rajiv Sinha and advocate Neeraj Kumar opposed the bail petition and said that they are the main accused. Even when the information of the matter came to their notice, they kept silent and looted the government treasury. They should not be bailed.

On Thursday, the court said that in the case, there are serious allegations against Lalu Prasad. In such a situation, they can not be granted bail in this stage. Justice Apresh Singh ruled in this matter and said that in the petition no new ground has been given on behalf of Lalu Prasad. The last time his petition was rejected on this ground. Apart from this, he has not spent half of the sentence in jail, so his petition has been rejected.
