All is not well with the Mahagathbandhan. In-fighting is going on.

The differences between Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav escalated further on Saturday. Tej Pratap has announced that he would field his own candidate, Chandra Prakash, from Jahanabad as an independent against the RJD.

Both the brothers Tej Pratap and Tejashwi have been differing on a number of issues in the last few days including choice of suitable candidates for Jahanabad and Sheohar Lok Sabha seats.

Tej Pratap has been demanding that two of his aides, Chandra Prakash and Angesh Singh, should be given RJD ticket to contest from Jahanabad and Sheohar, respectively.

However, on Friday, Tejashwi rejected it and declared that Surendra Yadav will be the RJD candidate from Jahanabad.

Tejashwi’s decision to field Surendra Yadav from Jehanabad did not go well with Tej Pratap Yadav. It angered him to such an extent that on Saturday he declared that Chandra Prakash will be filing nomination from Jahanabad as an Independent candidate and he will extend him support.

“I am very happy that Tej Pratap has supported my candidature as an Independent candidate from Jahanabad. He has assured me that he will campaign for me,” said Chandra Prakash, Tej Pratap’s candidate from Jahanabad.

However, there is mystery over Sheohar Lok Sabha seat after Tejashwi Yadav put on hold the announcement of candidate from Sheohar, owing to differences with Tej Pratap.

Tej Pratap said that his younger brother has assured him that he will be consulting him over the Sheohar Lok Sabha seat in the next two days before making an official announcement regarding RJD’s candidate from this seat.

The tussle between Tej Pratap and Tejashwi is not new. On March 28, in an unexpected move Tej Pratap announced that he is stepping down as the president of RJD’s student wing.

Launching a veiled attack (without naming anyone) he tweeted: “Naadaan hain vo log jo mujhe naadaan samjhte hain. Kaun kitna pani main hai, sabki hai khabar mujhe (Innocent are the ones who thing I am innocent. I am aware of everyone’s ground situation).”
