The Uttar Pradesh cabinet led by Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday gave its approval to a six-lane expressway that will connect Meerut in Western Uttar Pradesh to Prayagraj (Allahabad) in the east.
When complete, the Ganga Expressway, as it is called, will be world’s longest with the approx length being 600 kms. A decision in this regard was taken in the cabinet meeting held at Prayagraj on Tuesday.
The project stretched over 6,550 hectares of land will cost the UP government Rs 36,000 crore.
The Ganga Expressway will connect Meerut, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Kannauj, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and arrive at Prayagraj.
The Yogi Adityanath cabinet also gave approval to a 91-km Purvanchal Expressway link road to Gorakhpur.
Ahead of the cabinet meeting, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister also took a holy dip in Sangam.
The full stretch of Ganga Expressway aims to connect Greater Noida (Bordering national capital Delhi) to Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. The Ganga Expressway will connect Delhi to Varanasi and Allahabad and provide high-speed connectivity. The project will also provide jobs and new employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, Prayagraj today woke to the hoardings that called Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as — “Ganga Ki Beti”. They had photos of Rahul, Priyanka, Sonia and Indira Gandhi, and bore the caption: “Ganga Ki Beti Jeetegi UP”.
