- Congress leaders pick Gadkari’s statements and target BJP’s top leadership
Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday praised Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
He tweeted: “There is only one leader in the BJP. Please comment on Rafel Deal, the issues of farmers and ruining of the institutions.”
Actually, Gadkari had said that BJP workers should first fulfill their domestic responsibilities, because those who can not do it should not take care of the country.
At the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) program in Nagpur on Saturday, Gadkari said, “I meet many people who say that we dedicate our lives to the BJP and the country. Then I asked what you do and how were all in the house. He said that the shop was not doing well so I closed it. There were wife and children at home. Then I told him to take care of his house and family first. Then work for the party and the country.”
Apart from Rahul, several other Congress leaders have targeted BJP leadership using Gadkari’s statements. Congress spokesman Manish Tewari had said a few days ago: “According to Gadkari, the leader is beaten up by the public for not fulfilling the promises. At that time, the target was Narendra Modi and eyes were on the prime minister’s chair.”
Earlier, in December, Gadkari in a program at Pune said that leadership should take responsibility for defeat. His statement came after BJP’s defeat in the recently held three state assembly elections.
During this year’s Republic Day celebrations, Nitin Gadkari and Rahul Gandhi were sitting together in the front row and were seen discussing with each other.
