The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has set a new target of 2.5 lakh new members in Nagaland State, where it already has 1.18 lakh members. To do this, the BJP Nagaland State Unit on Saturday formally launched a two-month-long Sangathan Parv Membership Drive 2019 in Kohima in the presence of Union Minister of State for Steel, Faggan Singh Kulaste.

With this, anyone can now register themselves as a primary member of the BJP by giving a miss call to 89 80 80 80 80, which will generate a series of verification for old and new enrollments and will finally confirm and update the party membership.

According to the BJP, one phone/sim can enroll up to four members. Paper slip enrollments will continue alongside electronic enrollment.

Addressing the launching program, Faggan Singh Kulaste said that Nagaland State has 1.18 lakh BJP members after the first massive membership drive launched in 2014.

He expressed happiness that the State Unit is targeting to enroll another 2.5 lakh members in this drive.

He said that the trust of the people of the nation is increasing upon the BJP government because of which the membership in the entire country has reached 11 crores, making BJP the world’s largest political party.

The Union Minister said that no Prime Minister in the past has thought so much about the welfare of the people of the North East region, but under the Prime Ministership of Narendra Modi the region is moving forward.

He said that the BJP winning 303 seats in 2019 Lok Sabha elections has proved Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sab ka saath, Sab ka vikas’ true.

‘Membership drive will strengthen top party leadership’
BJP Nagaland State Unit President and Minister of Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along, requested the ministers and advisors to strengthen the party in their respective Mandals and register overwhelming membership in each and every booth level of the mandals.
He said that the membership drive will strengthen the top party leadership.

“This drive will give an immeasurable record. It is not about being just a member but the vision of Narendra Modi, his plans, development, ideals shall be brought down to the grass-root level by those members who become BJP,” Along said.

He told the gathering that all programs of the NDA government are designed to bring down corruption, lift up the unemployed to be employed and all deprived of development will prosper.

The idea of launching a membership drive is to live in the principle that Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee had lived by, to bring a vision of inclusive growth with all the people, he said.

“We are in a national party and we follow our high command, we know that the decisions that they make are right for the interest of the country,” he said.

Our regional aspiration can be fulfilled only by the national ambition, he said, adding that our problems, suffering, our poverty, and political issues and political solutions too would come from the nation.

Patton urges people to enroll in BJP
Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, said that in coinciding with the 118th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad, Nagaland State too joined the rest of the country in this mega membership drive of BJP 2019.

Patton encouraged and called upon all citizens of the State to come forward and enroll themselves and be a part of the BJP.

He also urged upon all BJP legislators to work harder and actively involve in this drive right from the booth level throughout the State.

“Let us be a part of history in the making and a proud member of the ever resurgent BJP family,” he said.

Stating that BJP was given an unprecedented and overwhelming majority in the recent Lok Sabha election by the people of India, Patton said, “This resounding mandate for the second term comes with huge responsibilities, expectations, and trust.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is vision of ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas, Sab ka Viswas’ needs to be emulated by all BJP Karyakartas, he said.

“We should take this vision to every nook and corner of this country and to our people and make it a reality,” he said.

In Nagaland, for the first time after statehood, the BJP secured 12 legislators out of the 20 seats contested in the last Assembly Election and became an important coalition partner in the PDA government, he said.

Though BJP has relatively fewer representatives in the Nagaland State Assembly, we have activated Mandals in all the 60 Assembly Constituencies, working tirelessly and determined to continue working in all the 2194 Polling Stations within the State, he said.

“Today, as we stand committed to working for the welfare of the people and the party, let us once again rededicate ourselves to strive harder and to be a torchbearer for development, peace, prosperity and harmonious society,” Patton added.

Earlier, Er. Longshi Kikon, in-charge, State membership committee, requested Kulaste to convey to the central leaders to have a special consideration for the State of Nagaland by focusing towards all-round development “which will bring about trust towards the BJP Nagaland State while also expanding the party activities and also dawn peace, progress, and harmony.”

The function was chaired by Jaangsillung Gonmei, State General Secretary & Co-in-charge of State Membership Committee. Peter Rutsa, State Vice-President & in-charge of Kohima district, BJP Nagaland State Unit, proposed a vote of thanks.
