Human Trafficking Suspected at Bhanupriya’s Place

Three minor girls were rescued from the house of South Indian actress Bhanupriya. On the complaint of a girl’s mother, Child Line officials raided the actress’ Chennai house on Monday. Andhra Pradesh Police also registered an FIR against Bhanupriya’s brother. On the other hand, the actress has accused the girl and her mother of stealing.

The minor’s mother lodged a complaint with Samalkot police in Andhra Pradesh. It has alleged that her daughter has been kept for forced work at the house of the actress. No money was given in exchange for this. The agent who gave the job promised to give Rs 10,000 salary.

In the complaint, the woman said, “A few days ago a person called on phone to her daughter. She said that in the house of the actress she was assaulted and sexually abused. After this I went to Chennai to meet my daughter on 18 January, but I was stopped outside the house.”

Child Rights activist Achyut Rao wrote a letter to the state and the National Child Rights Protection Commission about this. It is being assumed that after getting the permission from the commission, action was taken at Bhanupriya’s house.

In the case of violation of child labor law, Bhanupriya was arrested. Rao said that there should be complete investigation of the meeting of minor girls at the actress’s house. If there is a middleman who brings girls from Andhra Pradesh here, there is a possibility of human trafficking. Minors have spoken of sexual abuse.

Bhanupriya (52) is known for her work in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films. She also has lodged a complaint of theft against the girl and her mother. The actress said that the girl has stolen jewelery and gadgets and given to her mother. When the woman asked to return the stolen goods she only returned the iPad. She has talked about returning the camera and clock after a few days. The daughter of the complainant is 15 years old, but we were told that her age was 18 years earlier.
