Airbus opened the year with a net deficit of orders following the cancellation of eight A380s by Qantas as well as five A220s intended for an executive operator.
No orders were recorded for January, which left the airframer with a net order deficit of 13 aircraft.
Qantas had already disclosed that it was axing its outstanding order for eight A380s, following delivery of its initial 12.
The cancellation leaves total A380 orders at 313 aircraft with a backlog of 79, of which 53 are for Emirates.
Airbus has not disclosed the identity of the operator which has cancelled five A220-100s.
But Swiss-based business charter specialist PrivatAir had ordered five of the type – then called the Bombardier CS100 – in a deal unveiled by the Canadian manufacturer in early 2012.
PrivatAir filed for insolvency at the end of last year.
Cancellation of the five A220s leaves total A220-100 orders at 83 jets, with 449 orders for the larger A220-300.
Airbus delivered a total of 39 aircraft over the month, up from 27 in January 2018, of which 33 were single-aisle jets – all from the A320-family range. It also delivered five A350-900s and an A330-300.
